I have sent in my PR application with my common law who is Canadian 7months ago. I am now eligible to apply for open work permit, but my TRV is expiring. Should I renew my TRV first or apply for Open work permit?
I can stay in Canada at the moment because I have the Study and Work permit valid for the next 7 months.
If you were planning on applying for an OWP connected to a spousal PR, you should have submitted it when you submitted the sponsorship application. You would have received the OWP in 3-5 months - you'd have had it two months ago!
If you have now received approval in principal, you can now apply for an OWP, but it may well take as long as your PR to finish processing.
