Situation: You are granted a 10-year multiple entry TRV with a maximum stay of 6 months.
You spend, suppose 5 months in Canada, and want to re-enter Canada for 4-5 months duration of stay. So for renewing your validity for the next 6 months of stay:
1. Do you need to exit Canada and go to your home country?
2. Or can you go to some other country like the US and for a few days and come back to Canada?
No rule against going to US or home country as long as you exit.
It depends entirely on the border officer if you will be allowed back in and for how long, if they believe you are trying to abuse the visitor visa you can be denied entry. i.e There is no set minimum time you have to be away.
