I am sponsoring my husband who is from Nicaragua (I am Canadian). We are both currently in Nicaragua and need to get some documents translated and certified. I have read the instructions over and over and I just get more confused. Anyone in the same "boat" as me? If yes, could you please tell me what you did?? Anyone know of a place in Managua, Nicaragua that will do everything at one time? Where did you go to get your papers translated and certified? How much did it cost you? Would it be easier if I just did it in Canada (I hear it's much more expensive in Canada).

Hello! I understand how you feel. I am not from Managuabh but from manila. I read the instruction over again and again and luckily, my app went well so far. In my case, we went to a translation office company that professionally translates all the docs in english. The company provided a certificate saying that they translatwd the doc in the most honest and accurate form, the docs have been sent to lawyer for notary. We also copied all the docs and had a stamped for certified true copy.

First of all congrats! I know it can be overwhelming! I am married to a Nicaraguan and I submitted his application in December '17. I got some quotes, and some locally-priced were INSANE (like upwards of $2,000!!). You can have it done locally through UNAN or UCA (a gf who married a Nicaragua who then immigrated to Canada a few years back used them).
Alternatively, if you want to shoot me a PM, I used a freelance translator based in the states. I found him because I do freelance editing and translation, but of course, you can't translate your own spouse's application. This individual is a certified court translator and charged very reasonable rates which are paid through the freelancing site in escrow. He got the translations sent with a sworn affidavit that I paid him for, and sent the electronic copies to me and then mailed the hard copy via mail. I was really impressed and have used him for follow-up requests.
Let me know. I've been in your boat! Hope this helps.
