I booked tickets for my first landing in Sept and it's Swiss Air that goes via Zurich. It's a 3.5 hour layover. Given I have Canada VISA and onward flight from Zurich, would I still need a transit visa? Read somewhere that there are specific rules for Indian nationals hence asking.
Wrong. 'Transit VISA regulation for Indian Residents' page by Lufthansa says this:
"Indian nationals can Transit without Visa via FRA or MUC if holding a valid visa for the destination and a valid Visa for any of the following countries. Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Ireland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Romania, UK and USA (the approval notice I-797 is not valid document for visa free airport transit)."

They haven't mentioned Zurich explicitly which is the reason why I ask.
As per your original advice, I went to the Swiss embassy website and found that Indian nationals are not required to have airport transit visas
