I'd like to visit a friend in BC for around one month. I'm not working at the moment and I'm not a student, but I can show proof of my savings, plus my friend is going to write an invitation letter, stating he's going to provide me with accommodation. I'm a Russian citizen, but I've been living in Europe legally for 16 years. My question is if my visa could be denied just due to the fact that I'm unemployed.
On the other hand, I'm not sure if the invitation letter from my friend needs to be notarized.

Thank you for your answer! I have a permanent residence and work permit in Spain. But I definetely don't have that amount of money in my bank account. I guess proving that my friend is going to pay for all the expenses wouldn't help :/. What if I'm self-employed, would that improve my chances to get the visa?
