Landing in Canada (Service Canada)
1. I tried calling the 1-888-242-2100 number and don't know what numbers to press to make an appointment to land. Which numbers do I press to make an appointment?

Flagpoling (Coutts, Alberta)
1. Can I apply for a SIN # with this route?

Thanks!

I'm flag polling in July hopefully in Coutts as well! I thought making appointments to land take a long time... and you need a extreme reason to a rush because you're battling against time of your medical date, ect...

As far as I know once you land and get everything done, you must wait for your PR card to be sent, then you can walk into any registry and they give out the SIN # on a piece of paper, it's not a card like before and they're done on the spot.

Outland applicants can get their SIN at any Service Canada office by simply showing their landing document (COPR).

Some Inland applicants have been told that they need to present their PR Cards.

Good to know! Thanks! I was told a PR Card was needed before they would grant, but as usual the internet holds lots of information, true and false. ;)

Hi,

Does the COPR have to be signed before applying for the SIN #, etc? In other words, do I have to "land"?

Thank You.

Yes, you have to "land" first, because technically up until that point you are not a PR yet.
