Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Hello everyone,
I’ve applied for my parent sponsorship in Jan 2016 and received the confirmation letter for sponsorship in March 2017 and my parents file has been sent to ottawa. When I check the file status it is said received in Jan 5,2016.i have not heard anything back from ottawa.is there anyone the same situation with me? Do you have any idea how long does it take to process a file from ottawa? My parents live in Iran.

Very excited to share folks that we got the passports request for my parents this morning. Will share once the passports are back with us. Best of luck to everyone waiting, it will come through for all shortly.

That gives a hope. I have been following this thread. Now I want to update my parents status so that somebody get some help or hope:
Applied in Jan 2016
June 22, 2016 they asked me for some additional documents
February 10, 2017 my file was sent to NDVO
December 11, 2017 , they asked for Medicals, PCC, Photographs, one out of country form and PR landing fees
January 11, 2017 , they received the medicals
January 29, 2017, they sent the pre-arrival letter but the application status is still "In Process" by NDVO

I am hoping to get Passport request soon after seeing your comment.

Congratulation Garry. Finally there is a good news after so long wait. Hope now they will not go again in hibernate mode.

Got pre arrival email today and my Cic changed to decision made. Visa office is NDVO. Hope to get the passport call soon.

Any idea folks how much should be the time from now onwards to passport call.

N most surprising thing is that I got some correspondence from NDVO on 26th January Republic day in India means a stat holiday, r they working overtime or didn’t had a govt holiday.

Please advise n hope to listen good news soon.

I have similar timeline

File was transferred to NDVO in Feb 2017.
Medical/PCC requests: Dec 5th. Done before 20th Dec and e-cas updated end of December as passed.
No background check started yet.
