I am interested in applying for CEC and as I was going through the requirements a doubt raised in my mind.
On the official IRCC website it states one must have a minimum of 12 months of experience and 1560h to qualify for CEC; it also states that a maximum of 30 hours per week is counted. However, I did the math and 12 months * 4 weeks * 30 hours = 1440h, but 13 months * 4 weeks * 30 hours = 1560h. Therefore in order to meet the hours requirement one would have to work 13 months instead of the 12 months mentioned in the website.
Can anyone share thoughts and experiences on this matter with regards to CEC? Do they require 12 or 13 months at 30 hours/week?

You can't do the calculation using 12 months * 4 weeks. A year has 52 weeks not 48. So no, you don't need to work 13 months to get 30 hours. If you work for a full year at 30 hours per week, you'll end up with the 1560 hours.
It's recommended to add a "buffer" (work a bit more than 1560 hours) to be safe. From my experience, I could recommend you the below:
1. Never count months or weeks, but only hours. As scylla said you need to have worked (gotten paid for) for at least 1560 hours.
2. You can only claim up to 30 hours per week regardless of how many hours you actually worked in that week.
3. I'd add a buffer of 120 hours (4 weeks) to be safe.
Example:
Let's say you worked below hours in the past 5 weeks:
Hello Scylla and ImpatientKangaroo thanks for reply.
Now I see a year has 52 weeks, I´ll take your advise and work an extra month just to be safe.
My ROE´s do not have a detailed hour versus week table could that be an issue with the application? They only state the total of hours worked e.g. 543 as per table on page 2. Perhaps I should contact my employer to get a more complete version of the document?
