My background check is in process since January 2021 after I got eligibility letter and I got medical letter on 25th of April 2022, waiting for DM, so I mean that medical the last step, when background check complete they ask for medical.

Again background check status will be in progress from the day they upload your application on case management system, from day 1. But after medical is received, assessed and passed then they they finalize background check, whether it is complete or need to be initiated. there is no clear pattern now adays, sohaib got pre arrival then medical request, to COPR
I have applied for PR in March 2021 after being accepted as a protected person.
When checking my application status it says "Medical results have been received"... I guess they are referring to the medical exam results I did in 2020 when I applied for refugee status.
However, yesterday I got a message requesting a new medical exam. Is that normal? Because I thought the refugee medical exam is valid even for the pr application.

Default medical received status is mapped to gmcs and appear as default on ecas, but you will have to do medical examination. It is only valid when it valid, that is 12months period. Book any available appointment and get this done to avoid any delay.

after i got pre arrival april 12, april 13 they requested medical for everyone inside and outside Canada i got copr on April 29 still waiting for copr for outside family. Hopefully in 1-2 weeks they will get copr.

you can check on ECAS if they started processing it yet. Just remove the X and that is your application number
try checking the application status on ECAS
