Thank you so much for that info on sending the passport. I appreciate it. Does anyone know if my kids are required to have passports too? Their 14 and 9 and they don't have passports, they have been using nexus cards to cross the border.
If they are under age 16, they do not require a passport (as American Citizens) to enter Canada).

The first part is the sponsorship which has nothing to do with the FBI clearance. You may want to get another set if you haven't started already because that will hold your application up. The instructions say something about a clearance that is not older than 3 months.
by the way the call centre said to call the buffalo office by email or fax which i have emailed them several times about my FBI thing and no one ever gives me an answer.
Who do you guys call for updates on your status once its sent to Buffalo.

You can't contact Buffalo until the have received your application. They seem to be very cranky if you do. If you sen off for new FBI clearance today it is likely that you get a request from Buffalo to produce them before you actually get it from the FBI so at that point you can probably send them.
My FBI and State clearance were way past the three month mark, had them done in Sept and Oct of 09, filed app May 3rd. I'm not worried because I've been living here in Canada since '07 and I sent in the RCMP clearance as well. I have heard from some people who were approved with "expired" ones. I won't waste my money before they ask.

it takes buffalo office atleast 2-3 weeks after they receive ur application before they can reply to any of your queries through mail or fax.. have patience.. my file got transfered to buffalo on 17th nov.. but they could only answer to my queries around Dec 10th.. so wait a while to contact them
