Yeah, whenever I have inquired (or had an MP inquire) I was always given a generic response like what you just posted. Of course... they're going to do things when they can do them. I'm sure no one is just sleeping at their desk while our applications sit there. They're doing what they can, I'm sure. But the irritating part is that they won't let us know what they're doing. Its so secretive and closed off. :(

It should be a more transparent process, imo.

exactly at least if we ask if everything is okay to at least tells us like: we have all the documents needed at this moment. It would already be better than an answer like that. It is already long enough we should at least be able to have some updates other than the ppr

Here is what I got for my e-mail request:
Due to the complex nature and varying circumstances, we are unable to predict processing times between stages of processing.

I am really disappointed................. :'(

I got a letter like that nearly two months ago and still no more word. :/ Now I know the only reason they even sent me that letter is that I had sent some extra proof and apparently they wanted to tell me they didn't want me to send more. There are two things that make me worry about my background check. 1) years ago I worked for the US government for several months and 2) I've traveled to some sketchy countries, the worst being Somalia (technically Somaliland, an unrecognized democratic country within Somalia) But I was traveling with my husband and sent copies of his passport as well.

If it was just me that was being held up then I could maybe understand, but what about you and Cherlyn as well? Do you have anything potentially weird in your closets?

I/he/we didn't travel let say to unusual places.
We know each other more than 15 years. Married this year. Previous the marriage lived together almost 2 year and half. Born in the same country, same town. Educational background-Master's Degree for both of us- enough financial background for both of us (separately or together). No criminal record not even a speed ticket, nothing. Enough evidence (much much more than enough).

I do not know what to think anymore, what is holding up our case……………………………I already tried everything.

Most of you feel happy when the interview is waived. I would be “happy” if they request me to go to an interview.

me and my wife would be happy to have any news at all (even a need for an interview). Like most of the people that have been waiting for awhile

the only 2 thing i could see in our case

- she thought she was divorced until we discovered when we wanted to get married, her ex husband never filed his part.

- my wife had cancer twice, even if it's not supposed to be taken into account they may just stall because of that.

Aside from that we included even the state police record (even if it's not needed), we provided some proof not a whole lot but enough, i think. Plenty of pictures of our wedding from the church to the reception. One regret my letter was too short and not enough details.

The only thing that stress me the most is after our wedding she did her medical on Nov 23 and due to fbi delay we could file only in february so as you can see the 1 year for the medical is coming soon as well as our 1st wedding anniversary on Nov 21 which i hope will be celebrated in Canada.

Why would having worked for the US government hold up the application? Does working for a level of government in Canada matter?

just getting proof that I worked there might be an issue. I mean, they'll give it eventually but you know how governments can be slow, especially when it doesn't affect them either way. technically I had to sign paperwork saying I wouldn't talk about my job because the things I was looking at were sensitive. Not classified, but still sensitive.

But really, I'm just pulling at straws trying to figure out what the hold up is since so many people that applied after I did have already gotten PPR or landed!

Honestly, I think something screwy has happened with the people who sent in apps in March. We're seeing movement on alot of cases that have gone in later then the March folks have, but yet March has a terrible closure rate at this point for Buffalo applicants -- mind you almost all other March applicants are done (non-buffalo folks). I've also noticed several folks sending in apps after March have been xfered to other offices and those seem to go faster.

So, who knows.

Wow, Cherlyn, and other March apps--I am truly sorry to hear of the delays in your cases. Especially you, Cherlyn, your case sounds really clearcut. I am very grateful that there has been swift progress on my case, but I really "feel" all of your stress and frustration.

Here's hoping that later this week you all get requests for your passports. Those can happen any day of the week!

My rant for the day:

AHHHHHH. I'm getting really upset. Why are Buffalo May and June applications getting processed before March and April! Was there some sort of law or regulation that passed that sped up the process for these folks and we missed the cut off? No offense to the May and June people I'm really happy for everyone who got there PPR. I just want to see a little action for the March, April, and May people.

IRPA section 3 (1) (f) informs the attainment of immigration goals established by the Government of Canada and the provinces through consistent standards and prompt processing. Ok, ok, stop laughing it really does say "consistent standards" and "prompt processing." So what the heck. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on????

It really doesnt make sense why some are being processed so quickly and others not....

There are various reasons and as they say each situation is different but just hang in there, we will all hear something sometime!

In other news - I just got my PPR via email! :D
I'm kind of stunned.
