So I found out that I am pregnant (1st child) and one of my first concerns was about healthcare. Fortunatly I found out that since I am in Quebec with my husband (visiting) that I can get the Quebec insurance once I get my CSQ (certificate of selection Quebec). I am hoping to get this in the next week. It was a pleasant suprise because I thought that I would have to waite until I get PR which could still be awhile since Buffalo is moving so slow. I am 9 weeks plus now so at least I have plenty of time. Thought I would share in case anyone else is in Quebec this may be useful.
Congrats on your pregnancy My Husbands medical through his work is with a Quebec Company Called SSQ and they are really good, they insure me for health/dental and life insurance although I am not a Canadian.

are you sure? I'm pretty sure you can't get it until you have your PR and even then 90 days have to be up first. I think you might be thinking of what inland people can do? either way, I'd love to know what you find out next week.
Well I know for sure that I do not have to waite the 90 days because Quebec waives this requirement if you are pregnant. Basically you can bring your confimation for registration to the doctor, but it can only be used to prove that you are pregnant. so basically this allows me not to have to pay for the 1st appointment to prove that I am pregant. I talk to the Regie (the Quebec insurance registry) and they said once I have CSQ I can apply for insurance. So I am hopefull that all will go well. I will update you onece i recieve my CSQ. It has already been 3 weeks of waiting so hopefully it won't be much longer.
Hi everyone.. no news from Buffalo today.. wasn't really expecting it, but still
We had our belated wedding reception in the States this weekend.. it was wonderful, and if it wasn't for my husband I would have stayed, hehe But we are moving into a new place and a nicer area, so I think that will help with my 'unemployable depression'.
I, again, had no trouble crossing over.. but it's summer and I tell them that I'm a teacher (I was) so I don't know what will happen if I try to cross after summer is over.. I may just stay until it's all sorted out, so hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.
