Hi everyone,
Could some one please tell me if one requires a USA transit visa travelling from Lagos, Nigeria to Canada, using United airlines or any other airline that transits in America. I would appreciate your kind and quick response.

I think no,I never heard of any of our colleague's here who got there visa and move from Lagos that talk about that, but any way other professionals should please talk on this issue..

HI it is well,
Unless you are a a citizen from a visa free country like Canada you need a visa to transit in USA even if you are a Canadian permanent residents.

I am currently in Canada with my wife but I applied for Pr Outland and now I am being told to send my passport for visa, I went to dhl here in Canada but I could not send it through the PREPAID ENVELOPE as cic recommended what does that mean ? What can I do as I am not in Accra and I have 15days to do so

I think from what I read in this forum the best thing is to send your passport without return envelope but get someone in Ghana so that as soon as you get pick up email the one will go to DHL Ghana pay the return service and let them go and pick up your passport for you in Canada.

There are helpful websites like this one when you search in Google about a transit visa.

Remember when you fly into the U.S. even whe you're transiting you must pick up your luggage and check it in again. So stupid but it's their security. You'll pick it up and take it through security again once you've checked in again. Therefore it is likely you will need a transit visa. Transiting in the US is very different from Europe for example, where you simply move from one plane to the next visa security and don't have to worry about luggage. Keep looking for the right details. Contacting the airline may help as well. Best of luck.

I am glad Becos actually made the effort to check for correct info. We are all here to support each other but it doesn't mean to give inaccurate info if you are not sure about something. If you are not from a visa exempt country, you definitely need a transit visa to transit at a US airport. To save yourself the hassle go through Europe (BA, Lufthansa, KLM etc) which you don't need a transit visa.

Correct thanks mandie,sorry for my little wrong information ,I don't know much about US,and I just realized that people who travel from Lagos ,goes through Europe ,north Africa and Asia... So please save your self that stress and go through Europe, North Africa or Asia ,safe journey

you should mail cic to chage your visa office to ottawa, as soon as possible, forward the ppr email to cic and title URGENT , Change of VISA OFFICE FOR PPR
