Ify,atimes ecas gets updated late or not at all. I can remember during my appication for FSW, my ecas was never updated until i entered Canada. God is working for you.
interview requested for aug 31!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we bless God
i'm a bit annoyed at how far away they set it but thankful nonetheless. i'm presently in nigeria with hubby and now thinking of staying until aug.
the email mentioned that accompanying family members must be present. just wanting to confirm...does that mean baby and i need to be there? i'm guessing no. we might still show up and hope to be called to the room with him so that they show sympathy b/c of the baby LOL
Congrats Concrete, U should be really happy, regardless of the date you were given. God has a reason for everything. Atleast, know that you have enuf time to prepare.August will be here b4 u know it, and by His grace, y'all will come back 2 Canada 2geda.
Cheers..
@ concrete
Am happy for you and good luck with the interview. I am not too familiar with your case but be sure to have your hubby bring any additional evidence you could gather. I had a 3 month notice for my interview and yah the wait wasn't fun. But atleast you have something to really look forward to.
Good luck once more.
@ fernendez
I guess I have been too busy getting ready to immigrate. The part of the process I underestimated was actually getting ready to land. Resigning from work (a hectic handing over process), getting rid of belongings (actually looking for great deals e.g on vehicles), transit visas and the list goes on... I am not complaining though because that doesn't compare with waiting for 17 months for your future to be decided by some stranger in Accra lol.
i'm guessing that unless they specifically ask, we dont' need to actually re-do the police or medical records, do we? i'm getting so paranoid over everything **sigh**
The medical and police report are valid for one year. You wont need to redo it if it wont be one year by the time of your interview. If it did expire, you will be asked to redo them if you get approved during the interview (which will mean additional wait time). Mine expired before my interview so I decided to redo it before the interview which actually saved me time. Its a risk though cuz if you are not approved it will be money and effort down the drain.

Even worse than the chances of getting a visitor visa when you are not also applying for a PR visa: in other words, for an applicant from West Africa, extremely low.
If you can provide everything the visa office asks for in terms of proof that you will leave Canada before the TRV expires, the chances are still low. You need proof of a job - businessmen and traders I know have all been refused, with one of the reasons being their lack of a job; proof of owing a house; more family ties back home than in Canada - so children left behind are good, but better evidence for a woman than a man; money in the bank and investments; proof of enrollment in an educational institute that starts after your return date, and payment for this, is also useful.
How many West Africans with a spouse in Canada can provide all this?
It simply shows that the visa is more like a lottery system and decision can be random.
From all indications, Accra appears to be getting fast with processing spouse sponsorship application since 2010 as compared to the past.
Only God can save people from the hands of these visa officers.
