Anyone here who has applied for OHIP for a baby, what proof of address do they need?

i had gotten private insurance for him for the time he was here and now once his CoPR comes I shall go apply for this OHIP.

Received an email from IRCC on May 16 for my 9 month old son to send copies of his US passport and photos to Ottawa for the COPR
I received the AOR for my son's application on March 8
Sponsor approval and Medical request received on March 12

Case was processed at CPC-Mississauga

How long have your wife and child (maybe you as well) been in India? This could affect if you meet the residency requirements to receive OHIP.

we already have our OHIP cards. My son got his CoPR last evening and I spoke to service Ontario now and they have confirmed that I got ahead and apply and his coverage will start in 3 months. We have private insurance coverage till then. Thanks for getting back to me though. Appreciate it.

I hope someone can help me here. I'm trying to submit TRV for my son while his PR is on process (just waiting for PPR). Did someone here experienced failed uploading of IMM5257? Found forums with the same prob and I tried everything they said but still didn't work

Think you missing the point of my post. OHIP has separate residency requirements that you must meet even if you have a valid card. If you don't meet the residency requirements you are expected to reapply.

Who qualifies
To qualify for OHIP, you must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below plus at least one of the additional requirements.

To meet the minimum qualifications you must:

• be physically in Ontario for 153 days in any 12‑month period
• be physically in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after you began living in the province
• make Ontario your primary home

did you get the province health card based on TRV (family class) for your kid?

Healthcare is different in every province but in Ontario the baby wouldn't have coverage until they got PR in this case.

Don't have a solution for you but just so you are aware a TRV is not guaranteed because he's not a temporary visitor. Many get refused. Assume one of the parents is in Canada.

Hi All, Just checking if someone would assist on the below -

US Citizen child sponsored as dependent within Canada ( inside Canada)- can the sponsor and child travel outside Canada while the application is pending?? Will appreciate feedback... thanks...

Your application was fast initially what's the issue with these visa officesit's not easy being away from ones child for long. They asked for additional documents in my case. Asking for my proof of travel back to my country and hospital records of my son @birth. Gave me 30days saying a final decision will be made within that 30days. It's way more than 30days since i submitted the ADR still nothing from them. Very frustrating
