The instructions on the Guide says that photos should be loose and in an envelope,
But i prefer to print 2-4 photos on every A4 page and provide captions below each photo and place these A4 the photos in the folder of proof with relationship and hold them together with a paper clippper.
You SHOULD follow the guide, especially as some of them are country/region specific.
If you choose to do something different, it may delay your application. I doubt that they would reject it however.

You can print your photos and add captions, lots of people do that (maybe 2 on a A4 page would be more appropriate than 4). Just don't add the paper clip. They don't like metal thinghies, like paper clips or staples, and prefer the sheets of paper to be loose
Hey how about the forms? Should they be loose as well? Most forms are like 4 to 5 pages and we staple the pages together. I know I might sound stupid but just don't want to take chances. Thanks
The only thing I read that they don't like is staples. I used paper clips like crazy. Maybe they don't like those either but they didn't give us a hard time about it...

They ask for the papers to be in the order specified in the document checklist and loose. All the forms have numbers on the pages, they will definitely not get them mixed
But it's not like they're going to refuse your application because you use paper clips or smth. Loose paper just makes their lives easier I guess.
I went through the link shared by Zardoz.
And I think this is crazy, I mean keeping everything loose. In our case we are living apart and have been in long distance relationship for quite some time ( we are married now) So the best way to prove that our relationship is genuine and continuing was to show them the text messages and emails we have exchanged over the years and phone call logs. Including everything the supporting documents comes upto 100 pages. We organized our application very neatly but i guess now it is going to be a mess once they start removing the staples from them. Just hoping for the best!
