Hi Folks,

Any updates from anyone? Is the timeline for Security Clearance still 13 months or has it increased as usual? Do you know?

No updates from my side, reached out to MP to see if they can do anything to expedite the process. They contacted IRCC and got the generic "It's with a third party so we can't control it" answer. I see people from March and April 2023 getting cleared, so I guess it's slowing down a bit.

This is the thread for April 2023* applicants, you wont find any 2024 ones, maybe there is another thread for April 2024. But to answer your question, your status seems normal nothing to worry about.

Oct 2023 applicant (Family application of 3). Same situation with Test and Background verification on my file (spouse's is all complete). Got Language and Physical presence completed last week but background verification and Prohibition still in progress (see signature for details). IRCC GCMS notes show nothing for security, thinking of applying for CBSA notes. Read in one of the threads that the wait time for Security Screening (most likely where my case is stuck) is currently 12-13 months. I hope things get better soon.

I am in same situation, I applied for a family citizenship application (2 applicants). Applicant 1's status: Background check in progress since August 2023. Applicant 2's status: Everything completed except the oath - not started.

My question is, will applicant 2 receive the oath ceremony date before applicant 1, or does IRCC hold applicant 2 until applicant 1 clears all requirements?

they will bundle you two, unless 2 applies the application separation from 1. Then 2 will be free from holding

RCMP, CSIS and CBSA are considered third party agencies to IRCC, hence the terminology.

lol. It's funny. I'm an Iranian with a PhD working as a researcher. I've been a member of the waiting club since July 2022. Recently, I contacted a lawyer and he started the writ of mandamus process.
sounds like my nationality and my research filed put me in this situation. Let see what gonna happen and I'll keep you all posted.

The truth is that Christians and Muslims are subjected to different security screening. Some applications are never referred to CSIS and others must wait for a year or more security screening to establish they are not threat to national security. They don't care how long you lived in Canada. What determines the extent of your security screening is your name and the place you come from. You are a threat as long as you are in a certain category of population. Sad, isn't it ? But that is the reality.
That is Canada for you, a country that prides itself as champions of diversity and multiculturalism yet their systems are discriminatory.

I feel like scientists are scrutinized way more than other applicants. This group of people often travel a lot to attend conferences and meetings. The other group I see people working in IT/cyber security/finance. I am here waiting for more than a year now, because IRCC third parties can’t complete their security screening on time. And when someone files a mandamus suddenly the application starts moving as if their security concerns don’t exist anymore.

We applied as a family of 4. 2 Adults and 2 kids.
Application AOR: March 31,2023.
Citizenship test Completed: June 19, 2023
Background Verification( Wife): Completed after fingerprint request
Background Verification( Husband): In progress
LPP( For both): In progress

This has been such a long wait for us. MP has been contacted and they too are following up but as per IRCC additional security checks in progress.

Yes, I did. I have started the writ of mandamus process 3 months ago and I'm waiting for the leave decision.
