Hello everyone,

I would appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on this issue of mine. I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is Romanian. We have sent out application back in October. Today my wife received a message from the Canadian Embassy in Bucharest saying the following:

"This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
In order to finalize the processing of your application, please provide us with the items cited below:
-ORIGINAL passport or travel document(s) with at least 12 months remaining validity for you ;
-2 recent photos for you (passport size, on WHITE background; see photo specification Appendix C"

However, the issue arises as she does not have a "normal" 5 year Romanian passport. She has a temporary one which was made in July, 2010. This does not fulfill the requirement above with respect to the passport validity. Yes, my wife will make a new passport. The Canadian Embassy also stated that ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE GIVEN TO THEM WITHIN 30 days. Well, in Romania it takes approximately 30 WORKING DAYS to receive a 5 year electronic passport (unfortunately the choices are limited: temporary or electronic). The temporary passport can be obtained in the same day as you apply for it. Would the Canadian Visa Office accept a second Temporary Visa (if my wife makes one in a couple days) which has a validity of twelve months? [is it possible for them to say that they need a passport with 365 days or more on it, while the temporary passport once it reaches the Visa Office will have let's say 358 days on it?]. I need advice urgently.

Will they stamp the PRV onto a Temporary passport?

Thank you for your interest in my issue,

Based on the information you provided, it will be wise for your wife to forward her old passport if its still valid for more than six months at the same time let her apply for the electronic passport too once the Visa is stamped in her old passport she can clip both the old and new passport together when immigrating to canada.

If im wrong seniors in this forum can enlighten the issue.
