I read all the posts and I am confused, Here is my future case and I will need to know a definite answer to know if I will land or not
I cross the border via land
I will give them a friend address in my nominating province to receive my PR card
I will open a bank account and may transfer to it funds regularly to pay off my credit card to build credit
I will exit after 3 days through the same border and work for a few months with the intent of returning in 2018
Will you work in the US ?
Are you actually a tax resident in Canada ?
If you are actually a non-resident for taxes, I would say that you will remain a non-resident for taxes in Canada until you move there to work in 2018.

I may work in the US or may temporarily be in Egypt
No I have never set foot in Canada before the scenario I mentioned above
Thanks, but are you sure ?
Yes if you've never been in Canada, you don't have any ties in Canada, and you will not live in Canada.
That's an easy one, do not fill a tax return untill you come back to work.
Hi all, I class my self as a reasonably intelligent person, but cannot for the life of me work out what I am classed as for tax purposes! I wish there was a simple multiple choice questionnaire that would give you an answer at the end like the CRA calculator!!
Can anyone help please?
1. I have submitted Canadian tax returns for 2014, 2015 & 2016 previously, I previously lived and worked in Canada from August 2014-2015.
2. In 2017 I arrived back at the end of January, worked for just under 2 months, went back to the UK for 1 month to work, then returned in May and worked in Canada for the rest of the year. I would say I have considerable residential ties, including my common law partner is here studying full time, we rent a home, we own a car, we have Canadian driving licenses and we have Canadian bank accounts etc.
All along, I have only been on a temprary work permit.
Am I a resident, deemed resident, non resident or deemed non resident?!!! I am so confused.
Hi,
I got PR at the beginning of 2017 and I left Canada in September to work in Spain. In the summer I'm moving to England for a year and then planning on returning to Canada in September 2019. I don't have significant ties to Canada (no house, spouse, dependents). I just had a couple of questions:
1. I still have my Canadian driving license and bank account (but with less than $4000) in it. Does that make me a resident for tax purposes?
2. If I declare myself to be a non-resident for tax purposes, could this affect my PR in any way when I return?
If anyone has any links to official sites with answers to these (I've searched and can't find any), that would be fantastic!
