Hi,

i am facing a strange problem here.
In my wife's passport her full name and family name is put into name section and surname section is kept blank :-\

While filling up the CIC forms i am putting the correct name and family name where they need to be.

Will CIC verify the passport name/surname..i am sure they will...can i make a affidavit saying that there was a mistake in passport for the name. For visa she never faced any issue and she has travelled to many countries. Will it create a problem here...

your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

You can create an Affidavit explaining the situation. There will not be any problems.

Good luck.

Hi It is better to put the names as in the passport. you can use the below guide:

Thanks,

, my wife and younger son faced a similar issue. Although I wrote a letter explaining the discrepancy, our COPR`s, SIN and PR cards were issued with the names exactly as in our passports. We got our names legally changed and have applied for replacement PR cards with the corrected names. Only after we get our corrected PR cards

can we apply for our new SIN cards. Although there was no issue with us being able to re-enter Canada, there were issues getting my credit history sorted out. Based on my personal experience, I would advise you to get your name legally corrected as soon as you land in Canada.

thanks for the info guys..

when i am filling out the forms mainly IMM0008ENU_2D in the dependent section of the form its not taking blank as family name..so i need to put something there..its not even taking space.. :-\

so i guess i need to put the correct names and will rectify it later on..

or as per the link provided
"If you do not have a surname on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field, write “not applicable” or “N/A” in the given name field."

dont you think its opposite.. i must write my given names as they are in passport and in surname write as N/A
because when i am doing as said above its showing the name of applicant above the page of form as Not Applicable.X

its not looking good

hi
