I would like to apply for a Super Visa for my mom, she currently has medical insurance in the USA that meets the requirements for he Super Visa AND has unlimited (time-wise) coverage for traveling to Canada. The company is Blue Cross/Blue Shield which I understand operates in Canada too.
Is this adequate if we can get a certificate from the company to verify the above or does it HAVE to be bought in Canada - any one have such experience?
A key requirement for obtaining a Super Visa is proof of private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company.
The coverage must:
Be valid for a minimum of one year
Cover health care, hospitalization and repatriation
Provide a minimum coverage of $100,000
Be valid for each entry to Canada and available for review by a port of entry officer
You need apply for it on your mom's behalf.
You can call Geoffrey of biis.ca 1-888-267-4461, he could help you arrange it.
My employer covers my medical insurance. if i add my parents to it as dependents, will it serve as a medical insurance required for Super Visa? Please let me know if i can call you to discuss this further? Thanks. Dr. Gurleen Kaur
