My nephew has recently graduated from high school in Iraq, with high grades and was wondering if it was possible to pursue post secondary in Canada. Im a Canadian citizen and was wondering if i could sponsor him or assist him in any way. We are not sure where to begin or how to go about it and we would like some tips !

Sure, it's possible. Generally speaking, it would be much better for his parents to sponsor him - there's a higher chance of approval that way. However you can also try act as sponsor. You'll need to include your bank statement and evidence of income with the application along with a letter stating you will cover his expenses.
You'll need to show a bank balance that covers at least his full first year tuition + $10,000 in living expenses. However I would say you want to show more than that since you'll also have your own expenses to cover.
The first step is to be accepted by a school in Canada. Ideally he should go for a university bachelor degree. It must be at a public university (stay away from all private schools). He will pay international tuition fees of course (not domestic).
Earliest this would be possible is for the January term / semester. Too late for this September. Also suggest you dedicate time to reading through the discussions on this forum to see common refusal reasons and how to put together a strong application.

Also, consider for your nephew to apply on his own. Some agents / consultants are not very trustworthy and it is entirely possible to apply without one. Just make sure to read IRCC's website and this forum, you should find everything you need.
If you decide to use an agent, try to get as many references as possible. Good luck!
