Hello,
I am getting PhD admission in Quebec for Jan 2020. I want to go to Canada with my family including my wife and 2 children. So, I am looking to apply for my Study Visa and my wife's Open Work Permit and Dependent Visa for my children together.
Many have suggested that it is a big risk as all visas will get rejected. Should I take this risk or avoid it.
A common approach is that you apply for a study permit hence student visa, and TRV for your wife and kids , do them separately of course .
after those applications have been approved, come to Canada and your wife can apply for an open work permit and visitors extension ( aka visitor record ) for the kids .

Thanks for the reply.
Could you please share your views on:
1. Would my wife require a job offer to apply for Open Work Permit while on Visitor Visa in Canada?
2. Could you please throw some light on the reason I should not apply for SP and Open Work Permit together?

1. no, a valid job offer is not necessary when you apply for an open work permit.
2. it's just based on my experience , when you apply everything together you got a higher chance of getting refused together . when you have already got your study permit , the status of your other family members will be solely based on yours, study permit that is . it's just easier when you have already obtained your status. I honestly don't know what the VO will take into consideration when they process those applications.
