Roger that.

I'll try my best to justify my program choice in my SOP. So do you have any tips on what the words count should be for my Visa SOP? As I'm a mature student I will have a lot to cover. So it might be a little longer than an average candidates SOP. Will the length of my SOP be a problem? What would be the maximum word count according to you.

It doesn't need to be longer just because you are a mature student. You should keep it relatively short and concise. If you make it too long you risk the officer not reading the entire thing. Include only necessary details. Don't tell your life story. Too often people tell their life story and completely lose the plot.

I need to justify my low grades in my undergrad. I met with a bad motorbike accident and my right arm was crushed, so was unable to attend the first two semesters for which they dint event let me drop out as my they didn't want to return my yearly fees of around 8k CAD( yes i went to a rich kids college which was more like a luxury resort in the middle of nowhere). Plus I was scammed by the college, where they claimed that they had a Liberal Education system where my first year was Foundation course with subjects like Psychology, Ramayana studies, Mahabharat studies, Visual arts, sculptor, Physics, biology, and many more subject that I did not care about as I had signed up for a BBA in Marketing and Advertising. They claimed that these courses would be a part of the one year DIPLOMA which was supposed to be totally separate from my Degree. I inquired about this diploma before enrolling and found out that it wasn't even recognized, So I asked to not take up the diploma but they claimed it was compulsory as they believed that it was a must if one wants a holistic educational experience.....So I went ahead with that college while religiously ignoring all the Diploma courses. In the second year was when my Major courses started and that is when I started doing well. Mostly A's and B's, some C's and D's but not so bad. I averaged around 65% in all my Major and minor courses and was expecting that CGPA at the end of my program. But to my surprise, all the courses from the DIPLOMA program were added to my Degree marksheet and over all grades.
Its literally a cosmic joke. It says BBA-Marketing and Advertising with courses in physics, Bio, chem, ecology, anthropology, western Art: Impressionism and Post impressionism, theatre, performing arts, History of modern Rock ...spread out in the First three semesters. LOL( we had 3 semesters a year )
This happened to a quite a few students from my batch. On top of all that, they gave us a piece of paper at the end stating " congratulation on completing the Diploma!!" with no marksheet or course names attached. So yea much to explain about this situation...

And then my whole profession journey along with how the program that I have selected will help my career progress. I think its gonna be at least 1500 words. Will that be to long?

I have another pressing question. Do only some universities consider the last 2 years of your undergrad grades? or is this the trend with all universities in general. I might be looking into doing a MBA so was wondering what the situation currently is like.

1500 is too long. Keep it to two pages. I stopped reading your post a few sentences in because the details were going to a level that's entirely unnecessary. This is the big risk you're running with the visa officer too. Way too many unnecessary details results in the really important stuff being missed. You don't need to explain your poor marks in undergrad. You subsequently completed a master's. What happened during your undergrad is totally unnecessary. Same goes for the accident. Totally unnecessary. That's where I stopped reading and expect a visa officer might too. There are a few important points that support your argument. The rest is just noise and actually detract and weaken the argument. Don't talk about where you were born or how you were raised or your parents or your influences or your childhood. Talk about your master's and most recent 1-2 jobs. Don't go through your entire work history. Talk about your future plans and why the program you want to take in Canada is essential to that.

Hey BA101!

Thanks for responding to my questions.
regarding the response about a MBA being a more valuable option and the right call. Apart from being a better career option ,will my chances for Visa approval would be better than a 50:50 if I opted for a MBA program as it would be easier to justify my progression?
and about Chinook, I've heard about it but haven't done much research into it. So how would this be a problem for me?
Visa lately has been purely driven by luck. So yeah it is still 50:50

Google about how chinook processes study permits and you will learn about the risks
