Processing time: 4 weeks.

On tracker: Eligibility and biometrics are completed
Background check: Still "in progress"
Medical: Not started
My program was initially set to begin in January 2024, but I deferred it to the summer intake.
I’ve experienced delays with the background check for a previous visitor visa, which took over 8 months. I’m concerned that the study permit background check might take a similar amount of time, which could make my scholarship at risk.
Any advice?

Processing times are just estimates. Assume you mean start date was January 2025 not 2024. Tough to say what your processing time will be. Assume you have deferred.

Since you have deferred to summer, you should be fine. It also depends on your country processing time for SP. Another alternative is to do upfront medical if you are comfortable doing it. That way you don't waste time booking for medical.
