Study permit

Hi everyone,

i have student visa and a phd admission for fall 2014 and will enter Canada next month.
questions are:
1- Where am I supposed to get this "study permit" from.
2-period of study permit i will be getting and expiry date of study permit is based on what ?
3-will i need a prove of fund to get this study permit.

u get study permit at POE

mostly the duration of a ur Phd specified on ur admission letter
3-will i need a prove of fund to get this study permit.
it is recommended u carry all the documents that u used to apply for ur visa. They may ask for proof of funds but very rarely.

i am guessing since u have study visa u have got letter of introduction with it right? then when u land at POE they will issue a study permit

mead is right. At point of entry, CIC will give you a study permit after evaluating your documents. In this permit they'll state the conditions of your stay (i.e. duration, perhaps the name of the university to attend, conditions of working off-campus, etc). Do bring proof of funds, better be prepared.
