Study Permit Refusal Paragraph 179(b)

Hi all! Applied in March and due to the virus, I was only able to give biometrics in Jun.

Almost a month later, after no update at all, I got the refusal letter

"Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the length of your proposed stay in Canada.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee."

Trying to figure out what my next step is... Any thoughts/help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Costeltin, sorry to hear this, I strongly suggest before re-applying again try to get GCMS notes first and then get help with registered ICCRC consultant to go through the notes and review your files carefully before applying again and I trust you will surely get it as 179(b) normally means they are feeling you may overstay or not leave Canada after study which you need to explain clearly in your LOE/SOP(ties with home country).
Meanwhile, would you like to share your timeline and profile details to better understand your reason on our level?

Can you post your original SOP here? That would give us a clear idea what went wrong with your application.

Hi! I did not have an SOP. Didn't think I needed one when applying the first time. I usually travel a lot and have been to Canada and US multiple times in the past years so I thought that would be enough to show that I always leave and I don't overstay.

They didn't ask for medical because you didn't meet the requirements as per their concerns.

You should apply for GCMS notes + always put SOP. It seems half of the reasons are due to exclusion of SOP.

Yes, it seems by your answers you are new and you did your visa filing on your own without doing much research, but good thing I feel about your application, it's just a refusal based on visa officer was not sure about your plans on staying/over-staying in Canada.
By means of a profile like your educational background, work experience (if any), course, and college.

Good thing I feel, you have a very good travel history which will surely help you in next application if you illustrate your study plans(SOP) properly.

I got refused on exactly same grounds.
I have traveled to USA. Uk, Turkey. Etc...paid upfront 15k GIC and 17k full year tuition. 100k CAD in bank account. Completed bachelor from the states. They still refused me and same reason as yours that i wont leave Canada based on purpose of visit. Or Canada ties and current employment situation, etc.

how come you went to canada without giving biometrics ? biometrics valid for 10 years so why did you get a request again? doesnt add up !

The visa officer determined that you will not leave Canada at the end of your temporary stay. So you're not eligible for a study permit.

SOP is basically a reason for why you chose canada? What course are you enrolling in which university/college & in which state then What are your previous qualifications? Do they match with your further studies for example a Science student can’t get into hotel management as he didn’t studied anything in light of that particular course & After studies do you plan on leaving canada? If so why? you can write about growing job opportunities in your country and you want to help in the development of your country & so on.

P.S- If you don’t answer them they would think you just want to enter in canada and live there illegally, For any country no one wants unskilled people in there country thats the bitter truth you must be a asset to them else they will just kick you out.
