I have not got AIP yet. I dont know why it took so long for them to process that since there are not many people applying to Canada from US for study permit. A lot of US citizens received AIP, but until now I have not seen any non-US citizens get AIP from US. I know a person applying at the same time with me and he has not got AIP despite of the fact that he already got GCMS note with approved final decision. Technically, they have to issue AIPs as long as this semester will conduct to online learning (I might wait until the end of this month to see).
I applied in March and was able to submit my biometrics in July. But still I have not received any update whereas I see many applicants who have submitted the applications in June getting AIP. So I am a bit worried. I have ordered my GCMS notes. Hopefully, it will give more insight into the status of my application.
Have they started reviewing your application? My husband (non-US citizen) has a similar timeline as yours: applied in end March, gave biometrics in July 23,; he then updated info on legal status on Aug 7 via webform, got a reply on that update on Aug 13, but review still has not started...

Thank you!. But I don't know what the timeline for second stage, there is no clear date/announcement from them. My application is considered complete when submitted so AIP is just like a formal thing.
Thank you for clarifying this. You have been so helpful!! You would think VAC would have suggested the New York Consulate. Will try today. Second question is if it gets approved can we still go and get in at border?
Hello I got the exact response from webform. My application is also processed in New York. I wonder have you heard back from them? Or did you find the specific email you can contact them to inquire your application progress? I applied for PGWP.
I submitted my study permit application on June 6th, from NY,
Done the biometric when applying for visitor visa (last year),
Got AIP letter on August 15th.
Waiting for the second stage forever.....

Same same, but I submitted my application earlier than u did!!! I do not know when they start the second stage or IRCC could make travel restrictions less strict. It seems to me that after 15 Sept., they may start to review the second stage.
Yes that is what I did. I attached my diploma instead of my transcript because my school's electronic transcripts costs money and deletes itself after a certain period of time. In the web form, I listed my school's registrar's email, so that the officer can verify the legitimacy of the documents.
Hi! I received a letter from IRCC which was labeled “other”. I don’t know if that’s an AIP but it says
You are receiving this notification as an officer has reviewed the information and documents you provided to support your study permit application. Based on this preliminary eligibility assessment, your application has advanced to the next stage of processing.
Anyone knows if that’s an AIP? It also says I can commence study online.
