Hi, I have been out of Canada since November 20, 2023 due to medical reasons and had to complete my semester online but I couldn’t return to Canada and I changed my school on the IRCC portal in June, 2024 and now I want to extend my study permit. I have been in the UK as a visitor since July 2024 and my new school in Canada starts January 2025. Firstly, I want to know if I should apply as if I am still in Canada or say I am applying from UK or my home country. Secondly, is there a way I will know if my study permit has been canceled?
Your study permit is no longer valid. IRCC will have canceled it by now.
You need to apply for a new study permit from outside of Canada. It would be better to do this from your home country. Most likely you will need to defer your studies since you probably won't have a new study permit approved by Jan 2025.
