Study Permit Extension

Hi,
I came to Canada in January 2020, I have a valid study visa and student permit valid up to 31.03.2021. Recently, I came to India because of some emergency, and right now flights are paused and even the classes are online. I am thinking to take another course in January 2021, I am confused can we apply study permit extension and visa extension outside Canada?
Please help.

If you think you can make it back to Canada before the expiry of your current permit then apply for extension otherwise you will need to apply for a new permit

If I am able to enter Canada on/or before 31.03.2021, then I should apply for an extension once I am in Canada? Is that what you meant? or if I fail to move before 31.03.2021 then I should apply for a new study permit from my Home Countr?

Yes you can apply for extension outside Canada, are you enrolled in some course and studying from home or what were u doing in Canada?
