I obtained my study visa<masters of engineering/ 2 years>last year 2024 and deferred my admission with the university. I did not apply for a work permit for my spouse. When I arrive in Canada, there will be 8 months remaining on my visa.
Should I extend my study permit first and then apply for my spouse's work permit?
Or, to save time, should I apply for my spouse's work permit and then proceed with extending both my study permit and my spouse's work permit?
Or should I apply for my spouse's permit before traveling so that they can travel with me?
Will the letter of intent of the study permit affect that? I already said she would stay in my home country, which is the primary family tie. However, I have changed my mind now.

You may have been approved partially because of this which is always the risk. If processing for SOWP is around 6 months how long are you able to keep deferring admission?

I'll attend the masters on September 25 instead of 2024 , and I have already made the deferral for one year. Hence, I can not deferral again.
I already have the visa on my passport.
In sep 2025, the remaining time of the visa will be 8 months.
So now, if i request sowp before travelling in sep, what I should write in my application?
We have a new baby, and I want him to be in front of my eyes. You know this will make me focus because my loved ones are beside me. This means my family ties will be my parents, brothers, and sisters. Do you think this will be considered by the officer? Or they will insist that I should follow my first intention.

My wife and the baby have not been asked for any Canadian visa or permit before. I am the only one who has a student visa. I read that if i asked for sowp for both while I did not travel yet, it would have a low chance.

If you wanted to travel together you should have applied together in the first place. You’ll need to apply now for the SOWP and TRV and hope for the best.

Thanks for replying. No problem if they will join me later. However, I am wondering what I should write in their application letter because changed my mind because I want my baby to be near to me while I'm studying.
Do you think I should wait until traveling then make my family request or it won't make any difference?

At this point will not make a difference. The issue that will come up is that in your application you said your spouse and child will not be coming with you. Now you changed your mind.
