Study Permit expired on May 31, 2012!

My study permit expired on May 31, 2012. I've looked into Restoration of Status and I believe this is applicable to me since I am within the 90 day grace period to apply for it (38 days in). The problem is that I didn't realize this had happened and was continuing studying. I was registered for a single course in the summer term that started on May 7, 2012 and ended June 15, 2012. Basically, there were 15 days of illegal studying involved on my part. I looked at the conditions for Restoration of Status and it mentions that you must stop studying and apply for the Restoration of Status of study permit. How stringent is the condition for Restoration of Status for a study permit? I am a US citizen and I'm concerned I will not be able to obtain my diploma because of this stupid mistake. Please advise!
