I am graduating from school in Aug 31st 2013 with a degree.
I had a co-op work permit and study permit but both expired Jul 31, 2013.
The renewal application for study permit was submitted early in July before expiration.
I was advised at school to first apply for a study permit and wait for my result before applying for a post graduate work permit.
I asked severally if I needed an extension on my work permit as well. They constantly said no..
They did not advise that I should renew my coop work permit. Now my employer is asking me for my work permit.
Ive read an article that says you should have renewed your study permit 30 days before its expiry. Here's the link - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-extend.asp
Another link here regarding staying in Canada after study permit expires. - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=492&t=15
If I may ask, Where are you from? I highly suggest you contact CIC or go to the nearest office so you can ask for directions.
Hope this helps.

Is it possible to have your co-op work permit sent in after your study permit is already in process. The work permit is expired because I was wrongly advised to wait till my school result comes out before I apply for post grad..
