Study permit Approved but POE confusion

Hello all, I just got my POE via CIC portal and waiting for my passport. But i am confused here. POE states that a border officer will issue me study permit after checking all necessary documents. Can you tell me what that means? Wont they give me visa sticker on my passport?

The visa sticker as you call is known as TRV aka temporary resident visa this allows you to enter Canada.
Study permit is a document that authorizes you to study and it is issued at POE.
TRV and study permit are two different documents and each serves a specific purpose.

But universities usually require us submitting study permit before classes start . How can we send it before entering the country ?
