Hi,
I got my acceptance letter from University of Alberta but because of a my mistake in the address, the hard copies are sent to the wrong address and I am unlikely to get them. I contacted the university and they said to start the visa process with only the electrical copy of acceptance letter.
Can I apply for visa with only the electrical copy?
Do you have any other options?
Whose fault is a wrong address?
Anyway, you could attach a letter from uni where they advise you to apply with only electronic copy. And if you get visa keep that letter with your electronic copy of LOA . You will need both at POE.
thanks regina,
The wrong address was my fault.
about other options, I also have acceptance letter from University of Saskatchewan(and I already received the hard copy). I can apply with those and maybe( I don't know if it is possible) change institute later.
Exactly, if you're applying for the study permit online, you'll be required to submit a scanned copy of the acceptance letter, so it doesn't matter who scanned it, you or the university, it's the same.
However, the embassy might ask to see the original copy at some point, not all embassies do though. But keep in mind that you'll definitely be required to show the original at the port of entry where you'll be landing.
So, just go with it and apply online now and see if the university can send you another copy which you'll show at POE.
No. You are getting both. One is "electronic" attached to email. Another one - original (hard copy) by snail mail.
So if you apply for SP online you will send an electronic copy. But you have to have an ORIGINAL LOA with you when you "cross the border". At POE you should have : LOA, Letter of introduction from VO and proof of funds.
My acceptance letter from McGill says "This is the FINAL letter of admission which McGill will issue to you. No paper copy will be mailed to you. However, you may print copies of this electronic letter as needed."
But then again, I am planning to apply for Study Permit online.

Uhm. Really? Would you mind telling the VO at POE who handled my entry last year? Apparently you know something that the VO doesn't know. The VO was quite happy accepting my printed at home LOA AND LOI which were both delivered to me electronically.
if u apply for visa using LOA electronic or otherwsie which does not have a signature from dean or other authority then u get asked for LOA with signature. This may delay ur application.
at POE it is not a problem
