Hello,

My girlfriend is sponsoring me to move to Canada. We're common-law partners, having just spent a year living together, however I don't know if we have all that much evidence that I was living with her (it's her apartment, and I'm not on the lease) I do have a bank account, and SIN addressed to her apartment, but I was also thinking of having a lawyer/solicitor right up a letter stating that we were living together and having a couple of members of each of our families sign it.

What I'm wondering is, will any lawyer/solicitor do, or must it be a judge or... whatever?

Any information would be greatly appreciated:)

Use the form ddobro2 provided the link for to declare your common law union, have family members each write their own sworn testimony (no need for a lawyer just have them write it and get their signatures notarized) and it would be even better if you got a notarized letter from her landlord, neighbor, or employer (non-family members) too if they know about your living arrangement.
