Is statement of purpose important for visa application? Usually the visa offices do not have an interview, does the SOP help in explaining the importance of one's study plan? Please guide on this point.

From what I've heard and read, an SOP is very important to explain your plan.
Which course, why, how will it help you, how do you plan to use your qualification.... your future plans etc.
showcase how ur going to come back to your country when you're done with your education etc.
it will help your case.

Thanks for your reply. I need help on certain other points too that could affect my student visa application from India:
1. I applied for PR in 2004.
2. My student visa for US was rejected in 2003.
3. My daughter is already on student visa in canada.
I have been admitted to Ph.D program at U of T with funding.
How can I make make my application strong?
