Hi, I'm applying for PR as a US citizen, and I have requested FBI and RCMP criminal background checks, is it necessary to also request the state level checks? Or is this something that the processing center may request later?
Yes, this is something that the processing centre may request later. It's up to you whether or not to provide State clearances with your initial submission. If you do, you may be "wasting" time and money getting them - but if you don't, you may delay processing of your application while they take time out asking you to get them.
Agreed. I would send them straight up even if they are not required. It has changed multiple times from not required to required and back over the years, and even when it is not required they may opt to request them later. If they do, you are generally looking at a delay of minimum 90 days.
