I got a PR under FSW in 2013 as a single status and landed in toronto, canada on 6 June 2013. After getting PR card after about two and half months, I went back to my home country on 27 August 2013 to get married. After living there about 9 months, I get married on 10 May 2014 and back to toronto on 29 June 2014. My wife is living in my home country. Now I am living in toronto and am going to start my job from 14 July 2014. So my question is-

is it ok to file my sponsorship application immediately or wait for some time to maintain the funds to sponsor my wife. Do I have to maintain certain amount in bank before I file the sponsorship application? Plz suggest me and guide me through...thank you

Yes- you can file the sponsorship application immediate. There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor a spouse.

Thank you dear,

are there anythings that I need to be aware of during the filing of spousal sponsorship application?
thank you.

Your question is too broad to answer. You need to familiarize yourself with the spousal sponsorship application process before you apply by reading through the guide on the CIC web site. There are many things you need to know and do to make sure your application is correct. If you have any more specific questions - please let us know. But the question you've asked above is too non-specific to answer.

Thank you.....I went through the forms and I get confused in some of the questions..so plz help me to get through it.

IMM5481 (SPONSORSHIP EVALUATION)

Question 3 requires the net personal income for the 12 months period preceding the date of application, but I have just started working (less than a week), so how could I present my net income of 12 months?

IMM5540 (SPONSOR QUESTIONNAIRE)

Question 14: has your spouse/partner met any of your close friends or family?
is this question talking about any contacts of my spouse with the friends or family in back home or in canada? She is living in back home and never been in canada, so no chances of meeting my friends or family in canada.

IMM5669e: Background/Declaration

Guideline says the person I am going to sponsor would be the principal applicant, however in Schedule A:Background/declaration form, where should my spouse (sponsored person) needs to mark in a very starting question:
INDICATE WHETHER YOU ARE:

The principal applicant or the spouse

Plz help me clearing these few issues....i would be grateful to you all.

thank you

The "spouse" being referred to on the background declaration form is for when an entire family is being sponsored. So if BOTH the husband AND wife were being sponsored for permanent residency. Since you are the SPONSOR, you are not the "spouse" that is indicated on the applicant forms. You will be referred to as SPONSOR.

Hi,
thank you for your response. But my question is- i am sponsoring my wife who is living outside canada and as far as my knowledge she (sponsored person) has to fill up the schedule A: background/declaration form, not me. so which category she falls under either principal applicant or spouse...If you see the first question, it requires to choose either principal applicant or spouse....so my concern is- she is definitely the spouse of sponsor...but she is filling up the background/declaration form on her own....so isn't she the principal applicant for that application??? plz help me where she, the sponsored person (NOT ME) should mark...whether principal applicant or spouse>>

the sponsored person = principle applicant on all forms. she is not the spouse either. she is always principle applicant just as you are always sponsor.

as stated above the "spouse" is a secondary person listed on the application to be sponsored. this term does not apply to you or your wife since her spouse is her sponsor.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your sincere guidance and can you plz suggest me on some of my other queries...

1. you present your net income as it is reported to the CRA. If you do not have 12 months of income, then put what you have. There is no income requirement for sponsoring your spouse, so the amount is irrelevant to the decision. CIC is more concerned about whether someone has used social welfare in the previous 12 months, and supplying the required Option C form from the CRA will show this information. If you care to explain on your application why you haven't had an income, then feel free to. There are plenty of sponsors who are approved who do not earn an income.

2. if your wife has met ANY of your family or friends, then put them down. whether those people are in canada or her home country makes no difference. The fact she has met people in your life shows validity of the relationship.

yes, it is listed as a required form on the sponsor's checklist. IT also says if one isnt available, then you must suppy an explanation and 12 months paystubs. since you do not have that, your only option is the option c form available by calling the CRA.

hi rhcohen,
I am back once again to ask you one more query...I and my spouse whom I am going to sponsor have 13 years of age gap...so does it make any difference to my application when they take a decision...I am attaching my engagement, wedding and reception photographs, skype chat log, facebook chatlog and if possible phone call records to supply the evidence of genuineness....do you see any other additional evidence that I have to provide considering the age gap circumstances..

Thank you very much

The age gap may be a red flag, so I would send everything you just mentioned plus a personal letter about how you guys met, fell in love, dated, etc in which you address the age gap.

thank you for yr suggestion. But ours case is quite different, I suppose...we met only once for couple of hrs and showed green signal to our parents for marriage. My spouse and her family had already been informed about our age gap but never made it an issue. Then later our family decided when, where and how marriage gonna take place. So second time we met in person was at our engagement ceremony straight way. So there is no story to tell how we fell in love each other and about dating things....So I can supply only photographs and chat logs.IS THAT ALRIGHT?.

And one more thing....Usually when we chat in FB we use mostly our native language (not English), doest it have any negative consequences when presented to CIC?

Thank you very much.
