yes its 2nd time for both of us. There is no cultural norm, its all subjective what you want to do...We can have reception anyways but not sure that suffice the immigration needs.

You can have a small wedding or a court wedding and explain because you are both getting married for the second time, you did not want a big, extravagant wedding. This should be fine.
However, make sure that the court marriage looks special: get dressed up, exchange rings (if that is the custom there), have some guests preferably some family, take photos.
A reception afterwards is a good idea, IMO, unless you really don't want to. If you don't have one, you will have to explain that you didn't want one because it was the second marriage for both.

Thanks a lot canadianwoman.

I think all what you have suggested is doable... I will surely think about it and go for it. Thanks once again. You have boosted my confidence

Hi everyone,

I am a new member of this group and posting first time here.

I am a PR (citizenship in process). My fiance lives in India and we are planning on getting married in August 2015. We met thru family and this is an arranged marriage. We are planning for a court marriage first as there is no "muhurat (auspicious date and time)" in August. From the experience of members, Is court marriage accepted in delhi VO? Or do we need to have a traditional marriage?

I was planning for a traditional marriage at a muhurat date in November 2015. However as didn't want to delay the visa process so planning for a court marriage earlier. Is it ok to do this way? Please share your experience and point me in a right direction.

Thanks a lot for your help in anticipation. Please correct me if I am not on the right thread.

Hi

A court marriage between 2 Indians is a red flag for CIC because it goes against cultural norm. It would be better to wait until after the full traditional marriage before applying.

Hey,

thanks a lot!! I am pretty much drifting in the direction suggested by you. Other members on this forum have been of the similar opinion. I was hoping to hear on someone's actual experience with this but it appears members have seen many cases like this :-)

Much thanks again,

Hi,

Since you mentioned the cultural norm of traditional wedding.

I wanted to discuss my case as well.

I have dated my boyfriend for 2 years and got married in May 2021, we could not apply to invite our parents due to Covid travel restrictions. So we had a wedding in Canada with brother, sister, sister-in-law and friends.

would it cause any problems?

Please suggest
