I didnt get any correspondence letter from the Embassy , just got BD updated on MyCIC from not needed at this time to In Process.
I belong to Palestine. CIC received my application on 25 Aug 2016. Medicals passed upfront "Passed"

I am also Lebanese citizen and currently resident in Saudi Arabia, i still waiting and there is no update , my application for family sponsorship received in 12,May 2016 and my Medical test done in April 2016 , i have only around 1 month and 15 days and it will be expired.

JMZ: LOL, it looks like your application is almost done compared to mine.

Since your background check is in process the you must hear something soon. (When did your background check status changed from "Not Started" to "In Process" ?
For me, check the below, I don't even have something written next to "Review of submitted documents" , at least for you it is written "provided" + my background check is not started :

yes , but my background check changed to in Process since first November 2016 .Hope you here good news too

Ecas:

We received your application for permanent residence on May 12, 2016.
We started processing your application on June 16, 2016.
Medical results have been received.

Mr. JMZ we are on same boat. I'm Pakistani citizen living in Saudi Arabia and my visa office is also in Abu dhabi. I applied almost 20 days before you on 22 April, 2016. and my MYCIC and ECAS status are same as yours.
My background checks started on 31 October. I hope we will hear good news very soon..

My wife Canadian citizen and sponsoring me we both living in Qatar and my application is in Abu Dhabi embassy, CPC Mississauga received it on 18/03/2016 and started processing in Abu Dhabi embassy on 19/06/2016
I couldn't link my application tried many many times but didn't work
I emailed embassy and they replied to me on last 9th of January that it's under background check for security till then don't know the latest updates and my medical was expired on January 21st 2017
I don't know when was the background started!!but they rarely response to emails
Don't know how long still need to wait!! Processing time for Qatar family sponsorship is 12 months according to CIC website
