Dear Friends,

I have a total score of 65 against the eligibility of 67. Since I am Married my spouse gonna do IELTS hopefully she may score 6 in all bands. So that i can get 5 more points as per adaptability. If she scored, Do I need to apply for PR for her too? Since I am planning to bring her once I got settled down there.

Is that enough to apply for myself alone with her IELTS score as a supporting criteria?

Please Help.

You need to add her in application, if you want to claim points for adaptibility.

She does not 6 in all areas; 4 in Reading and 5 in all other areas should be sufficient, which is equivalent to CBL 4.

Thanks for your reply friends.

I will add her in my Visa application but do I need to apply a PR(Co applicant)for her too now itself? If so is that necessary to get a ECA for her too?

No, if she takes her ILTES that should be enough to consider her points.

And you are claiming this based on what? Mind sharing the source? Because as far as the rest of us are concerned, CIC requirements are CLB 4 for spouse, i.e. Listening: 4.5, Reading: 3.5, Writing: 4.0, Speaking: 4.0

THANK YOU SO MUCH. So that I no need to apply her as a Co- Applicant now na?

Yes, she will be listed as a dependent in your application.

there is nothing written about spouse scoring on the website.. it just says: Your spouse or partner's language level
Your spouse or common-law partner has a language level in either English or French at CLB 4 level or higher in all four language abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing).

To get these points, you must submit test results from an approved agency when you apply. Results can not be more than two years old on the day you apply.

now if you go to the IELTS section (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp), CLB 4 is Band 6 in all subjects. Also common sense suggests why would they give you 5 free points for a band of 3.5 :P Don't go with wrong theories.. spouse need 6 in each

I'm afraid you got it all wrong.

This page (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp) does not list IELTS points for CLB 4. That "4" in the table is the points you will get if you score 6 in each module, i.e. CLB 7.

Moreover, that page has mentioned CLB 5, & you can get an idea that it translates to S-5, L-5, R-4.5, W-5. So, that will give you an idea that CLB 4 is definitely going to be lower than that, & not 6 in each module?

The calculator on this page might clear your doubts. http://www.ieltsessentials.com/results/ielts_for_canada.aspx
