hey! Can you guys help me out i'll be really gratefull.
As I am international student and my wife is an international student too
We both got married 8months ago and now i am thinking to apply for spouse open work permit.
If you can tell me that as i am an international student and want to drop my studies and apply for OWP am I eligible for that?
And if yes that what are the requirements.
Thanks really appreciate your help
Legally , you can. You have to inform the institute. Once you stop studying officially, you can go back to your country and apply from there for SOWP. In practical terms, it is complicated. If you apply for SOWP from Canada when you are a student, most probably you will get rejected.
Thanks for your reply.
But what if i stop studying and apply from inside canada and attached a document that shows i am not studying and not enrolled in any college amd yes both got married after becoming student and going back to home country do u think is a good option?
What if they dont give me the approval from my home country because its gonna be in there record that i was student then got married and

If you stop studying, your study permit becomes invalid automatically. You are supposed to leave the country as soon as possible. What you can do is to wait for your study permit to expire and continue studying till then. Close to the expiry you can apply for SOWP or may be visitors visa first, then SOWP. It will look like you finished your study and want to stay longer as visitor or spouse. That would not raise suspicion I believe. But wait for others to opine.
Thanks.
But my study permit has 1 year to expire
And do you think if i apply for SOWP from my home country after 1 year they will give me visa?
Is there any way i can apply from inside canada
For SOWP?
Thanks.

Yes like i have applied for it in my last semester and i got rejected with this reason
'You can apply for an open work permit if you are the spouse/common-law partner of a foreign full-time student. This exemption is intended for spouses who are not, themselves, full-time students.'
If i drop my studies for one semester and apply for SOWP again and let them knw that i have dropped my studies.
So is there any chance to get the SOwork permit?

I am in my last semester as my study will complete in April 2021 but my study permit is valid upto November 2021.
Can I apply my husband's open work permit from India? Or should i wait for my study completion?
Please give me feedback
