I am here in Canada on TRV and applied for Open work permit depending upon my wife work permit. It has been applied on 5th June 2017 but there is no update on it.
On checking the site it is showing 72 days processing time, can some one recently applied for open work permit from inside canada and whats the timeline?
Also as I am already in Canada and have the Tourist visa stamped on my Passport do the stamping will be done again or I will just receive the Work authorization letter.

my spouse applied in July 11 and still no updates. they may begin working on your application soon, since its been 70 days since you applied. keep checking your online account for changes this week

Yes, you can apply or change your status from visitor to open work permit inside Canada. I have heard so many cases where people come on visitor visa and then apply for open work permit inside Canada.
I applied for the open work permit for my wife on 28th June, Inside Canada. No update for our application as well. I checked online on processing times, It says 16 weeks.
Where did you guys check for processing time to be 72 days?
The problem with us is, her six months are completing in Oct first week. Just getting worried what to action if it doesn't come in next 2 weeks.
Can we apply for her extension of Visitor Visa while her open work permit is already applied?
checking from the PGWP processing forums, they are processing june 2nd applications. so maybe in the next week or two you would hear from them. keep checking your online account, because from my experience in applying for my PGWP the approval appears in your account a day or two before they send the email
