Hi All,
I would appreciate it if someone can answer my questions as we are having a hard time now.
here's the situation for me and my wife as follows:
- my wife (main applicant) had a study permit for one year. she is going to apply for pgwp as her study is finished in Jan 2020.
- I (dependent) have a valid spousal open work permit till Jul 2020.
- my wife was not able to find a job yet and my work permit is about to finish in a few months.
- we are going to apply for Express Entry next month.
- I checked my score which is about 380 with almost 1-year experience in noc B in Canada and more than 12 years of foreign work experience in the same noc.
- my wife has a Master's degree and had studied a one year program in a college.
- I will qualify for Federal Skill Worker in express entry
- when I reach 1 year of work experience in June, I will qualify for CEC, too.
- I am working as a permanent full-timer since Jan 2020. before that, I was a contractor.
1- can I apply for a work permit extension if my wife still doesn't have a job?
2- what will happen if she cannot find a job and my owp is ended?
thank you in advance.

380 is far too low to gwt an ITA. Draws are 470+ right now.
1. No, you can't apply for an OWP based on her PGWP unless she has a skilled job and 3 payslips.
2. You can apply to change your status to visitor prior to your current permit expiring.

Hi VIP member,
I have been reading your responses to most of the discussion threads and needed your valuable input regarding my concerns -
My wife applied for for PGWP 16th jan2020.
Wife's Student permit, my visitor visa ( i came initially to canada) and my OWP expires as of March 31st 2020.
Wife will have 3 payslips by march 6th with job in noc type B. Administrative assistant.
That will be less than 30 day before expiry of my visitor visa and OWP.
Do i apply for visitor visa extension now?
Do i wait for 3rd payslip by march 6th and then apply for OWP extension?
Do i still need a visitor visa/ visitor record along with OWP extension?
Please help me understand the requirements as cic website juat takes you in circles with no definite answer or process. Thank you for your valuable reply..

30 days is a suggestion, not a requirement. Apply for the OWP once she has the payslips. You don't need to apply for a visitor extension.

Thank you so much for your speedy response.
We will be providing the following documents -
Wife's employment agreement mentioning job title, detailed job description (in line with noc type B administrative assistant), weekly hours, and pay per hour.
3 payslips (provided bi-weekly)
My next question is how do we prove that the job is in line with noc type B?
I have read another thread where an application was submitted with all the qualifying documents and it was rejected with reasons that the officer was not convinced the occupation was in the required noc type?
Sorry, I dont mean to bother you. Thanks .

I asked the company I am working for to offer her a job.
they offered a contract but not the usual one. they asked her to establish a company and then offer herself as a contractor to the company.
is it going to work for EE?

Hi:
I just need your help and advise. I'll be applying for PGWP and extension of OWP for my husband. It's hard for me to find a job because of the pandemic. Do you have any idea if there are changes on the requirement of the skill job and payslips for me to extend my husband's visa?
Thanks.
