Hello,
I posted my Spousal Sponsorship Application to Mississauga on the 22nd May 2018.
I get to know that its been delivered with the tracking number.
But till date, I have not heard from CIC confirming that they have received my sponsorship application.
Does any of you know how long it takes for CIC to acknowledge receiving application?
I just want to be sure that they have actually received the said application.
Thanks for help,
Dennis

There are dozens of threads on here asking this same question. You will not hear from CIC except in two instances. First, if your application was submitted complete, they will enter you into the system and send you an email to the sponsor that notifies you that they have received your application (Acknowledgement of Receipt, also called AOR1). Receipt of AOR1 takes an average of 45-60 days. If your application was incomplete, the only way you will know is when your application is returned to you.

Many are waiting upwards of 6-8 weeks for AOR1. Your application has not been at the office for a month. During this process the biggest thing we leared was PATIENCE. We heard nothing and had no updates for more than 8 months. There is simply nothing we can do about this. If you hear nothing after the 8 week mark tou can call cic to see what is happening. Unfortunately until then youre going to have to sit tight. I suggest you look up the may thread and review the spreadsheet for trends and you local vo spreadsheet. This way youll have a better idea of wait times and time lines etc

Below are the only email I have received from CIC:
1. An email stating that my application was received on May 24th.
2. Another email was again sent to inform me that my application has been transferred to Accra Ghana.
3. Third, was an email stating that they've started processing my application on the 24th July 2018.
And since then, I have heard nothing again from them. Online status still indicates - In Process till today.
I world have love to call CIC. But a friend told me that whenever one calls CIC, and they open your file, then they will take it backward. Recording the date of your call as the date application was submitted. Thereby making the application to stay longer. I don't know how true that is. Can someone help me out with some useful information please?
Should I call them or not? Are they likely to call my wife for medical before December? I plan to go for Christmas holiday this year in December, to likely come back to Canada with her if she's called and visa granted before January 2018. Lord help me.

No, it does not put your file back when you inquire regarding the status of your application.

However, your timeline is within normal processing times. Be patient. I doubt she’ll have her visa granted before January 2019 if you have just submitted an application last May. Processing of applications are generally processed for a year. Wait it out.

what are you hoping to gain by calling?

your friend is giving you bad advice stating that if you call it will delay your file... this is INCORRECT. no one on this forum can tell you anything about when you will hear something or receive the PPR as each case is unique. IRCC promises to complete 80% of applications wihtin 12 months. some are longer, some take less time.

as far as hearing nothing, we went EIGHT months with hearing absolutely nothing from them until we received the PPR. This is quite normal...
