Toutesweet, Margobear96 thank you for replies!
Chala, thank you... That s what I was thinking about -prolongation of visa.
Actually my visa is till November 2014, but by rules I capossiblen be only for 180 days per time. I have no idea how they will prolong it if it is till November anyway.
Ah! Great! No problem. Apply when you return then. The thing is, and I've heard a couple of different things, but for the most part, that you can't travel out of the country while application is in process. You risk being refused entry. If you want to be able to go to Russia for a few weeks or more during this time, perhaps better to apply outland? Check into that anyway. Otherwise inland you will be on implied status until application is complete.
If you applied outland and had to go to Russia for interview which is unlikely but still possible, you could see it as an opportunity for a visit home? Downside is, they might ask you to leave in Nov and your visit might be longer than you ever intended, or possibly not let you back in one of you 180 day outs, so those are the issues. My friend and her Mexican husband had both those issues but managed to just barely sort it out both times, and they had kids too, and did their interview with one young child already while 9 months pregnant. And he was a stay at home dad. Very stressful time for them! But it worked out. Note they have three

Also to add to my above post (sorry after thought) if it is delivered to his old address after he is gone do they allow the COPR envelope to be forwarded..he is going to set up a p.o box in Port Huron,MI for all his mail to be forwarded for about the next 6 months..thanks so much for the help
You can only change it online if your application is inland. Otherwise you must contact the processing Visa office, but really even in that case it doesn't seem to take more than a few days

questionguys, i received my visa and im just curious, my application is sponsorship by my husband who is a canadian citizen, what seminar will i attend? is it PDOS or that guidance and seminar? and one more thing, ill be going to toronto, if going to a US route needs a US visa, what route po ba will i take to countries without visa. can i excempt PAL and cathay.
thank you so much
First of as all, where are you from newbiemay?
If you want to go through the us you would need to apply for a transit visa. To be honest, I think it's easier to just avoid it andtake a dfriendlier route. For eg. If your country is part of ASEAN, you can go through Korea or China, and fly into Canada directly, though it may be Vancouver then Toronto extra stop. If you are too far away to go direct, find the friendly place you can land and get to Canada direct from there. If you're trying to save money, for even just this once, it's really not worth hassle I feel

I'm sorry I forgot, India right? I believe it is currently a one year processing time for there. You can check the CIC website for processing times for your visa office and also which visa office you are required to apply to and time your application accordingly. These times are always subject to change, but I think India has been fairly consistent. Be aware I have heard on this forum, that the New Delhi office can hold your passport for several months for security check so you won't be able to travel out of country for that time.
Keep records and pictures of your time, visits, and communication together. If you have all of this, it should just be a matter of waiting out your processing time. No problem.
I'm a sis by the way ;-)
I'm sorry sis
ya i hope everything will go smooth in future and during visa processing time

and thnx sis for all your help

I've read somewhere in the forum that the post office doesn't forward COPR mail. Maybe the envelope says do not forward, but I don't know for sure.

If you check the website again, you will notice that the online address change is for inland applications only. You must send an email to the office through which you application is being processed to notify them of any changes in your address phone number, email etc. They do it quickly though. The good news is, email is the primary mode of contact.
