Spousal Sponsorship Within Canada - Open Work Permit

Hi, we are submitting an open work permit application together with our spousal sponsorship. The form itself is rather confusing as there is no specific "open work permit". We were told to fill out the APPLICATION TO CHANGE CONDITIONS, EXTEND MY STAY OR REMAIN IN CANADA AS A WORKER form IMM 5710.

But which do we apply for (as he has had no permit prior):
- A work permit with a new employer (nothing is lined up yet)
OR
- Initial Temporary Resident Permit

any clues?

I have the exact same question
Its all so confusing.
I do have a working holiday visa but it expires May 1st so Ill send an application for a new one with my sponsorship application and like you I was told to use this form but have no clue what to check as none of it really applies.

I sent my OWP in a month ago and was informed by the CIC call center to fill it in as follows
Question 3 to use the 4th box: initial temporary permit or extension of temporary resident permit.

I am currently in Canada on a working holiday visa while waiting for the PR application.
