Hi All, I am new to the form and hoping for some assistance. I sponsored my wife from Pakistan and the spousal application 1 year anniversary date was October 17th, 2018 just as we were expecting the process to be approved since it's been 1 year, immigration officer requested following information. Would greatly appreciate if you anyone can provide feedback on the following:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:

1- Marriage Certificate / Licence: Please provide a copy of the original Urdu nikah nama, as well as an English translation. This must be received at this office by

1. Did you not provide the Urdu nikkah nama with your application? Regardless, you have to send them a certified photocopy of Urdu nikkah nama, English translated attested copy, and an affidavit from the person who translated.

2. Did you mention on the application that you had Rukhsati? Did you have Rukhsati? If so then send them the pictures. If not and if it was Nikkah only then just explain accordingly and let them know when you plan to have rukhsati.

3. Do you chat with your spouse on whatsapp or facebook etc? If so then take few screenshots from each month and send them. Also call logs if available. Did you visit your spouse since marriage? If so, then provide boarding passes, photocopy of enter/exit stamps on your passport, and any pictures taken in Pak. If you did not visit then let them know why.

1- Yes, originally we sent the nikkahnama both English & Urdu version. Will have to send again, I am curious how come this informations being asked again?

2- We didn't have rukhsati however we held nikkah, mehndi & reception ceremonies at the time of marriage.

3- will send chats etc.

I am wondering how come immigration waited this long to find out about rukhsati as it's been over a year

Because they are idiots. Any file with a 'red flag' (2nd marriage, nikkah only, huge age gap etc) has been taking longer than 12 months. What I feel is that when they first review a file with any of these red flags, they kinda put your file in a low priority queue and process the 'normal' ones faster.

In reference to your questions
1) You don't need to provide them photocopies of nikkah nama. They have mentioned it particularly to be original document. You just have to scan the original copies of nikkah nama and send them. This is normal. They asked me as well. The scanned copies of original nikkah nama.
2) doesnt reception mean rukhsati was done? the actual pictures of the rukhsati ceremony being performed whether it was at the event of nikkah, mehndi or reception. explain them accordingly
3) In case of proof of communication, the more the merrier

File submitted in dec 2017, what do they ask you

Not Applicable for Review of Additional Documents means they already reviewed your documents you submitted and any additional documents you submitted and so far, do not need any other documents unless they request them.

One more question that boarding pass has two parts, one when we board to aeroplane the officer torn the one part of boarding pass and keep with them, and other part give to us, should i send pic of full boarding pass or the pic of one part which officer gave us after keeping one part.

Standard Reply. You can get reference in this thread dating back to November 2015 as far as I know. (other examples July 2016 , Sept 2017)

They are just waiting for more interview cases to accumulate per quarter before they send someone from LVO to interview applicants. In the meantime, order GCMS notes and lookup objections. Once you know ojections, you can clarify them by sending additional paperwork. I have heard that they sometimes revoke interview if additional paperwork clarifies relevant concerns.

You might get a response in about a month if you asked a specific question. If you are submitting a document they don't respond.

what's the next step...its been almost 2 weeks since we have submitted the application and no reply on email till now. although they claim to reply in 5 days of receiving the application. :/

These days, it's been taking about 3 to 4 months for the first reply from them. So be patient . You can create a gckey account but you won't be able to link it until you get the first reply with the application number.
