Hello people who have submitted their sponsorship application already: did you folks had to submit educational credentials (transcripts, certificates, degrees) and employment verification letters for your spouse (applicant)? I don't see it listed in the document checklist, but a friend of mind who submitted sponsorship application a few years ago had to do that. Not sure if the checklist at that time mandated it.

If that is the case then atleast I have the canadian documents supporting my divorce. You think they can go as far as getting a confirmation from my previous spouse. I highly doubt that

No, they won't contact your ex. As long as you have a court divorce certificate, it's fine. Not that I know what goes on in their head, but it's more of that they doubt your intentions and they take their time making up their mind on whether this marriage seems genuine to them or not.
On another note, some ex spouses just can't move on and they try to create a drama. I know someone's ex who wrote a letter to CIC just to create a controversy. The case still got processed but took longer as they had to look into it more.
The entire system has become incredibly slow. I have a strong feeling they'll change the processing times soon as it seems a lot of people are exceeding 12 months.
